The mathematical model used by SatPointer for calculation of the Earths Magnetic Declination for any point on the Earths surface is based on the original "GeoMag" C software for WMM-2005 from the US National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC). See the NGDC link for more information on the model itself and associated NGDC software.
The model implementation relies on a table of co-efficients obtained from a local disk file by SatPointer. This file is named "WMM.COF" and must be updated every year that is divisible by 10. This file can be obtained from the NGDC on their software download page or from the authors link on the menu to the left.
The authors SatPointer Magnetic Model implementation is an object oriented version contained in a Embarcadero Delphi unit.
